It can be installed as either stand alone (all on one PC) or networked (where all users share the same data). Yes, it does cost more for each additional user, but at a reduced cost. For example, you can't go into a furniture store and buy a leather recliner, then expect to get two others free for your friends. If paying for each copy infuriates you, please remember that the furniture stores started this pricing policy, we are just following established trends.
A PC and a Modem (remember that old way of connecting to the Internet?). Probably want to have a phone line too if you want the Modem to work.
Can I import data from an existing program or database? We can do anything...for a fee ($250). We can import data from just about any other program as well as Outlook's address book. However, if your vendor list is handwritten on a dry erase board, that will cost extra. We recommend purchasing a copy of our program and trying it out first to see if you like it since the fee for importing data is non-refundable. Would you pay a car dealer to install a sun roof before you took it for a test drive?
Why the maintenance charge of $30 per month? A glass is either half full or half empty. If you are the half full type of person, then you realize that we are giving you 90 days of free maintenance that will provide your company program updates, hot fixes, etc. As for the half empty type, have you checked other companies maintenance fees? Seriously, $30 a month (per site/physical location, not per user) is a bargain. Those utilizing our custom interface to another Fax Server (RightFax, ZetaFax, etc.) are $50 a month per site.
How long has The Power Tools been around? Let's just say that this product is older then some of our programmers. It was started back in the early 1980s as part of our Accounting software. We recently recognized that another company (who will remain nameless) was basically blackmailing their current customer base into upgrading to an internet based solution. So, we split off our bid solicitation software to sell by itself. Now you have a choice--be blackmailed, or go with a better product that gives you complete control of your data and faxes (The Power Tools).
How many others have purchased The Power Tools? We thought about doing a counter on the page that would increment every time a copy was purchased, but we decided against it since counters look unprofessional and remind us of ebay "treasures" for sale. We have clients in every state with one version or another of The Power Tools (yes, even Alaska). If an actual count is required before you purchase our software, please email Bart Nissen. He will give you the exact number of purchases at the exact time that he receives the email (limit one request per day).
What happens if I have problems later, what support do you provide? For the first 90 days after the receipt of the software, you receive unlimited free technical help to make sure that you get your new software up and running successfully. After the 90 days, you will need to pay for a maintenance agreement to continue to receive support and program updates. We have a great team of customer support representatives who are always quick to answer your calls or emails. A few of them will even give you their latest stock picks if you like to live life on the edge.
How long has your company been doing construction software? Universal Construction Software has been serving the construction industry since 1979. We are a family owned business who takes great pride in the strong working relationships we have built with our customers. We are not a corporate conglomerate that forgets you once you have purchased their software (ever tried to call the support line of one of them?).
And the number one question asked: WHY SO CHEAP? We had a company meeting to decide what to charge for The Power Tools. We really had two choices, charge thousands of dollars like the other companies offering this type of product, or charge a fair price for what this package really does. This product wasn't designed to navigate the Mars explorers to their final destinations --it creates a simple invite to bid and faxes/emails them. FYI, it wasn't a unanimous decision...a few of us still want to charge exorbitant prices like the rest... |
